Hey Glen– John from Jerzy here— been to a bunch of your shows –by yourself –with your band— and with other bands—- always a great show— just wondering; one of my other favorite bands is counting crows. Have you ever worked with them and if not is there any chance of u working with them in the future. I think you n the crows could make some great music together!!! 신용카드현금화

Hi John,

Nah, I’ve never had the pleasure of working with Counting Crows. But I once saw Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes (w/ Kate Hudson) trying to hail a cab on the street in NYC, I’ve twice had dinner with Sheryl Crow, and I’ll NEVER EVER get over the fact that – from what I hear – at once time Adam Duritz was seeing both Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox.

mediumturquoise-snake-435738.hostingersite.com :: View topic – “Downtown” by John Waite

Are you the same guy who wrote that song DOWNTOWN with John Waite? I’m preety sure you are. That is THE BEST song I’ve ever heard that guy sing, and he’s got some very cool tunes and a very long career. What was John’s input? Did you guys collaborate? That is one hell of a song. 신용카드현금화

————

I am, yes, and very proud of it.

I am a fan of John’s. We crossed paths for years and eventually became collaborators and friends (though at the moment I can’t seem to find his current phone number).

“Downtown” is one of the songs I’m proudest to have been a part of. Essentially, the way I recall it, we were sitting in the front room of my home, and while I played a bunch of chords on the piano, John made up a bunch of words stream of consciousness style (as he does). I was shocked and impressed at the confessional honesty in the final lyrics of the song. The guy’s unafraid to bear his soul – the sign of a true artist. (AND it was sweet that when he needed a girls name for the song, he chose the name of my daughter.) 신용카드현금화

Another song of ours I’m proud of is “NYC Girl”, which is on his most recent album, I believe.

When it comes to singing, I think of John Waite as the Frank Sinatra of my generation. Like Dylan, his phrasing is extraordinary. His musical sense is wonderful. And he’s a star and a gentleman. I just can’t say enough great stuff about the guy.

Thanks for bringing it up. I like that song alot.

The CD hasn’t been released yet – and there is still no posted release date. But country weekly says it’s gonna be ‘soon.’

NEW MUSIC FROM JO DEE

Although there’s no specific release date yet, Jo Dee Messina tells the “Pittsburgh Post-Gazette” that her Delicious Surprise CD will be in stores soon. She says that the record will have a few surprises, including nearly half of the songs self-penned. “The production is more like the [1998] ‘I’m Alright’ record than like [2000’s] ‘Burn,'” notes Jo Dee. “It’s not slick – and grittier.” She describes Delicious Surprise as “a pretty honest record” and adds, “I think sometimes with an honest record, people don’t know what to do with it. But when we perform the songs live, we’re getting a great response.” 신용카드현금화

Dear Glen,

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I miss your presence in Styx. I know all that exhausting touring for such a long stretch can take a toll on one’s life in many ways. Even though all of the band members really “burn the candle at both ends” on such a schedule, you seem to have such a natural energy that never burned out. I saw you perform many times with Styx and you truly brought a lot of spunk to the shows. You seemed like a kid running onto the playground for recess! (ya think I could get the name of your multivitamin?). I’m a pharmacist by trade, but I’ve never come across a vitamin that gives that much punch! You obviously really love being out there because you certainly do give it your all.
Anyways, I’m attending the intimate Styx show in Chicago at the Vic Theatre. I just had this wild thought about how great it would be for you to pop in for that preformance. Gosh Glen……….are you busy? Well, it sure would be an awesome surprise! (one can dream) 신용카드현금화

Well, you’ll always have a fan in me! MISS YA! MISS YA! MISS YA!

Best of Luck,

Deanna,

Thanks so much! Being on stage IS fun, and touring with Styx was fun in that there was always just a professional crew, and enthusiastic audience. Glad you enjoyed it!

Hello Glen,
I hope all is going well for you. I saw you for the 2001 tour with Styx. FANTASTIC! I cant say enough good things. I didnt have one clue who Styx was… first concert that i attended (im 14). I saw Joe Stark, got bored. Then Billy Squier, he rocks. Then I saw Bad Co.. They rocked too. But then these guys came out when it was jet black outside, and just rocked my world! It was amazing. At the time my favorite band was KISS, it never occoured to me that there were other bands out there to listen to. And I didnt really like Styx… but then i bought the Styxworld CD, and i was hooked. Then i bought Cyclorama, “Kiss your ass goodbye,” one rockin’ tune. I wrote an eight page report at the end of last year ( I got an A+ – VERY PROUD!) And it just dissapoints me that I saw you in concert, and didnt have one clue about the true rocker before me. So I was hoping that you would tour Colorado if you got a chance. Im sure that me and a whole bunch of other people would enjoy your show. 신용카드현금화

Hello Glen,
All is going great, thanks.

It’s nice to hear someone your age would appreciate an old school rock band’s performance, and I’m real glad to hear I might’ve inspired an eight page paper which got you an A+.

Colorado is a gorgeous place. Tell you what – keep getting good grades, finish High School and go to college, get on the concert committee, and book me a concert at your school in Colorado, okay? 신용카드현금화

Thanks for the letter!

Hey Glen,

Long time fan. From the first time I heard “Follow You” on the radio, to the first Styx concert I ever saw (1990 – Edge of the Century). I’ve seen you with Styx three times since.
Just got Welcome to Hollywood. You are a wonderful songwriter, each album of yours that I have has beautifully crafted song after song. I can’t say enough how much of a fan I am. I enjoyed the pictures too. I also love how much your family contributes. You are a lucky man, a talented man, and a great showman. 신용카드현금화

Take care,

Hi Chad,
And thanks for the uplifting compliments. I AM a lucky man, no doubt.

Happy to hear you recall the days when “Follow You” got played on the radio, and I’m very happy to hear that you can hang in there with the new “Welcome to Hollywood” disc as well.

Take care of yourself, and always stay as enthusiastic about music as you are now,

Glen

mediumturquoise-snake-435738.hostingersite.com :: View topic – Celtic influence detector

Hi Mr. B.

I was listening the WTH the 2nd of June. Well, I noticed a Celtic sound to the Muse. I wondered what influenced you to add this to the song?
I have an Irish/Scottish background…so I noticed the sound right off! Anyway, WTH really rocks and I can’t wait to get the disc. 신용카드현금화

All the best,
MaryAnn

——

MaryAnn,

I have always been moved by Celtic music. Now, that’s a huge genre in itself, but the modes and melodies found within that style often strike a deep chord in me. I sometimes wonder if that’s caused by some “tribal memory” due to the fact that my Grandmother was Margaret Brennan from County Westmeath, Ireland. But, I think that kind of music gives an emotional spark to people with ANY DNA heredity.

I dig the music of Chieftains, among others. 신용카드현금화

There are a few of my songs which employ a Celtic sensibility (“ROAR” comes to mind), and yes, I suppose Plinky’s bagpipe loop/track on “THE MUSE” puts the song on that list. Now that I think of it, there may be a pinch of Celtic seasoning in the tune’s Chorus melody as well. I’m surely not the first to do this kind of thing.

I might point out that that song kind of goes through a wide variety of styles. It’s sort of a mix of pop, rock, rap and gospel, with a splash of Celtic.

Sounds like a cocktail.

In any case, good ear, MaryAnn! What a rich culture you (we) come from! Thanks for asking.

May your troubles be few and your blessings be many,

Glen

Glen,

I will be coming back to the beautiful state of New Jersey (and thank you for your previous e-mail suggestion of visiting NYC while I was there last…I did a summer session at NYU a few years back and absolutely LOVE the city…but, went back and did SoHo, Greenwich and the Harlems) 신용카드현금화
Now, my sister and I will be jettin’ out to Atlantic City in October… Where in the hell will you be? I have prayed to the rock gods that you will be performing somewhere (ANYwhere) over that weekend… Maybe you could schedule a show at The Stone Pony that weekend? hmmm? My sister wants to head to Cape May (I’ve been there already) I want to head up to the Asbury Park area cuz I’m thinking it’s got some great black/white grainy photography ops… What’s your advice? And if I go to Asbury Park, where should I head with my camera?… Thank you so much for being my Garden State travel advisor…

Dear Marilyn,

I apologize for getting to this late, but I am glad to hear that you have enjoyed your trips to NJ and NYC, and I hope you found something to do on your recent trip.

The fabulous state of New Jersey has much to offer actually. The mountains are nice, the beaches are nice, there are some great little towns, and it’s between two major cities.

We’ve all been waiting for Asbury Park to come back to it’s deserved stature, but meanwhile it IS full of photo ops of decay and contrasts.

There’s a little town immediately south of Asbury called Ocean Grove. I think it’s the most amazing town in NJ. I strongly suggest you visit there someday & really go through the backstreets of that place – it’s kinda like a trip back in time a hundred years or two… 신용카드현금화

The colorfully painted Victorian homes of Cape May really are gorgeous (they require color photography!).

Perhaps when this music thing is over for me I should consider becoming a professional Garden State Travel Advisor?

Hi guys!
I was hoping I could ask y’all for some help.

All Things Glen.com is nearly ready to go live, and I was hoping to make a ‘Friends of Glen’ page. I’m looking for photos taken of fans, friends, & folks with Glen.. candid, posed, pre/after-concert, any which way. I’d need names of those in the picture, either the date or the year it was taken, and where it was shot. 신용카드현금화

You can email it to me at AllThingsGlen@aol.com . If you have the image online someplace already, you can send me the link with the info, or post the link and info here in this thread. I can only take one image per person for now, and I can only use images that you have the copyright to.

Thanks in advance! *hugs* all around!
